Are you getting bore when you look static picture each time when you unlock windows phone. It’s even more annoying when you realize that same feature is already available in Windows 10 desktop. When I bought first ever windows phone Lumia 950xl, and I aspect such functionalities will be part of Windows 10 phone. As a developer I realized to develop such app, and share it with friends who already suffer this pain. As a result, Background slideshow appeared on Windows app store.
Background slide show is simple app that allows you change device background and lock screen picture with daily Bing or customized collection. This app is empowered by Bing images, where you can save, set as wallpaper/lock screen and share with your friends. App is designed to change wallpaper/ lock screen at regular time interval; configured in system. Application will save Bing live image on local device if auto save is set to on.
Background slideshow is also integrated with Cortana, and it has some awesome configuration. What if your beloved one pop up, and you have not enough time to change set your beloved one picture as device wallpaper/lock screen. Here is solution. Just tell Cortana “Set my favorite picture is background.”; and you are done.
Background show app is available on windows app store.
Application is designed in such a manner, that it can be configured in minimum possible steps. Following are some guidelines for configuring application.
Collection
You can define your own collection here; these collections will be available for slideshow in Background/ lock screen. You can add number of pictures in each collection.
Create new Collection by tapping “New” button from top app bar; provide name to collection. Once collection is created, open collection by taping on it. You can add/ remove pictures by “New” button
Background/Lock screen
Background and Lock screen pages has simple configuration for device background/lock screen. Select type as Bing image or Slideshow
In case of slideshow you will get an extra option for “Choose collection”. Here you can select one of collection.
Select time interval and save settings.
Note: Don’t forget to save settings once you are done. Settings must be saved by tapping “Save” button in app bar

This page provides some basic configurations for application/ Cortana and Bing images. All these are described in detail
Background Tasks
This section indicates whether background tasks for Background and lock screen are registered or not.
Once you save Background/ Lock screen settings; relevant background tasks are registered automatically. But there might be case, where you want to stop background task; therefore, you can set on/off from here.
Hint: Once you save Background/ Lock screen settings, verify background tasks are successfully registered from setting page.
Cortana
Cortana section provide you configuration to set your beloved one picture. Once configuration is done, you can set this picture by using interacting with Cortana by following commands.
- Set my favorite picture as background
- Change background to my beloved one
You can also use verity of commands to tell Cortana about some actions. For example,
- Show me background images
- Background: show me Bing images
- Change my device background
- Background: Change my device Lockscreen
- Background: Change my device wallpaper
Bing Images
This section allows you to make configuration for Bing images. You can define local folder, where Bing images will be saved.
For offline mode, it is recommended to download Bing images to device, application will take care of Bing image even if you have no Internet access. Bing images can be downloaded by “Download” button. Additionality you can view Bing images from “Preview daily Bing image” button.
